Gratitude & The Desire for More

It is said that appreciating what you have is an invitation to the Universe to give you more. I truly believe this sentiment and try to practice it every day. But honestly, some days are harder than others.

Since leaving corporate America and becoming an entrepreneur, life hasn't been quite as predictable. Prosperity, clients, and ideas ebb and flow. And when things aren't flowing, it can affect my confidence and make me question whether I want to stay on this entrepreneurial path.

During those rough patches, my gratitude can take a back seat to my desire for things to be different. And that's when things get interesting.

And what does that create? GUILT.

Yes, guilt. I feel guilty because, despite appreciating what I already have, I still want more. Suddenly, I'm on a slippery slope, creating all sorts of chaos between my heart and my head. You can imagine the rest.

After experiencing one of these spells, something hit me. Now, this isn't rocket science, but it opened my mind to a different way of thinking.

Ready for it? Drumroll, please.

It's okay to appreciate what I have AND still want more.

Ta da! There it is.

Wanting more doesn't diminish my gratitude for what I already have. In fact, I think it can be an acknowledgment of what I've already created and a reminder of what's possible.

The problem isn't wanting more. The problem is when I become so focused on what I don't have that I lose sight of what I do.

As Ken S. Keyes Jr. is often credited with saying, "To be upset over what you don't have is to waste what you DO have!"

And that stopped me in my tracks.

I am a very blessed individual. I have my health, family, love, friends, a lovely home, the opportunity to explore my passions, people who enjoy reading my writing and so much more. I don't want my desire for what's next to distract me from appreciating what's already here.

So, I'm giving myself permission to want more. Guilt-free.

Not because what I have isn't enough, but because I'm excited about what else is possible.

Through this process, I created the gratitude chart. It has helped me release the guilt of my desire for more and I want to share it with you.

If you are interested in receiving a copy, click the button below. You will be taken to my contact page. Write "My Gratitude Chart" in the message section to request a copy.

My hope is that it helps you take a moment to recognize and appreciate what you already have, get clear about what you want more of, and identify the steps you are taking to get there.

Because there is room to be grateful for what you've created and still wonder what else is possible.

Let me know how it goes!
