The Plane I Almost Didn't Board
Two months ago, I almost didn't get on a plane to Greece. I know it sounds crazy. It wasn’t because I didn't want to go. Greece had been on my bucket list for years. But life had become so overwhelming that taking a week away for myself felt selfish and wrong. Back then everything seemed uncertain. The family had decided it was time to move. Colorado had lost its shine. Between experiences of discrimination, concerns about our son's sports career, the dry climate, and simply

Claim Your Voice
Woman in nature with outstretched arms Last year, I participated in a three-day women’s event. A friend had attended earlier in the year and encouraged me to do the same. To sweeten the deal, she gifted me a complimentary pass. What would it hurt? If I didn’t like it, the only investment would be my time. Generally, women’s events are not my cup of tea, though I value their purpose and impact. As an introvert, being in a room filled with high energy and a large group of women

What does it mean to create beauty?
Beautiful Artistic Flowers I recently joined an entrepreneurial group dedicated to amplifying member businesses. One of the first exercises we were given invited us to go beyond strategy and into imagination. We were asked to write a letter from our future selves to our present selves -from the place where the business is built, the life is lived, and the vision has already come to fruition. In my letter, I stated that I create and share beauty in all forms. Not truly underst

Magic Lives in the Freefall
Tandem skydiving Have you ever jumped out of a plane? 🪂Many moons ago I was given a skydiving lesson for my birthday. After being trained and fitted with a parachute I met the instructor who would accompany me. As we walked out on the tarmac to the small propeller plane my nerves kicked in. What am I doing - kept running through my mind. We took off and as the plane climbed higher, the pilot mentioned something about cloud cover, and how we may not be able to jump. (Side no

Google How Old Am I?
Person looking confused. “Google if I was born July 1967, how old am I?” Why would I ask Google such a question? Can’t I do simple subtraction? Yes, I can, however, I didn’t trust the answer that I came up with. The answer is 58. I am 58 years old. How can that be? Honestly, last time I checked I was 56. How did I forget how old I am? Prior to my grandparent’s death, my grandfather started off older than my grandmother then somehow as time went on, he ended up being younger.

I Give Myself Permission to Be Happy
Go back as far as you can remember. Can you think of a time when you didn’t need permission? Permission from someone other than you to do or have things you couldn’t get or do yourself. Now compare that to when you were born. The day you popped out you didn’t ask for permission. You demanded what you wanted, and your caregiver worked around the clock to give it to you. One day the tables turned and everything changed. A child is taught as early as toddlerhood that it is no lo

Isn't meditation just a grown-up time out?
What is meditation and why are so many people doing it? To me meditation is the opportunity to quiet my mind and listen to my heart. It provides me with clarity, insight, and allows me too just be. For those that may need more convincing, it has been scientifically proven that meditation can reduce stress, promote emotional health, enhance self awareness and can increase attention span. Even with these benefits, I have heard too often that people are unable to meditate. There

I give myself permission to soar.
For those that have worked on something for a long time to bring it to fruition like planning a wedding, creating an artistic piece, building a house or a business - once it is done there is a moment when you say, now what? Well, I have been having that moment again and again since my book Healing Words - To Inspire, Remember, and Know has been published. Since this is a self-published book or indie book, I do not have a big publishing company to promote the book. It is all u

What does it mean to be a healer?
I wrote Healing Words - To Inspire, Remember, and Know to do just as the title suggest. To inspire people to remember what they know. For those who have read or listened to the book, you know it is not a long literary piece. To me it didn’t need to be. The words are poignant and are written to make the reader self-reflect. It is a book to read and read again as it provides different wisdom based upon on the mindset of the reader. A few nights ago, in my dreams I was told that

Loss, light and bees
How do I help a friend deal with the loss of her parent? I was sharing with one of my guides how I felt troubled by not being able to help a friend who was grieving the loss of her father. The message that I passed on to my friend was that her father is not gone and that his soul lives on. His physical body may not be here, but his soul will always be with her. She heard my words, but unfortunately, they did not provide her much comfort. She grieves terribly and thus is unabl

Why is the "I Love Me" challenge so hard?
Updated 3/8/21 Yesterday through the Healing Words FB page, I invited people to join me in the "I love me" challenge. It is a simple challenge (so I thought) to write down each day one thing that I love about myself. At the end of the week, I would have 7 beautiful reasons why I love me that I can look back on when times get tough. I thought this would be a good exercise to remind myself of how amazing I truly am. So why is it so hard? Why is it so hard for me to even write t

Leap of Faith
How do you get the life that you want? A few years ago I thought about that question often. However, it was not in the proactive sense. It was more of how do I stop doing what I don't like. Through mindfulness, soul searching, and the help of my guides I remembered that I can create the life that I want. To do so, I was reminded that I needed to make room. To release the things that no longer serve my higher purpose to make room for the things that do. That was incredibly sca
